Dianne has been retailing knitting yarns for well over 60 years and during that time has encouraged many new knitters to take up the ART!
She is often asked - Why knit when you can buy ready made garments so cheap?
You get much more choice; choice of pattern; choice of yarn; choice of colour; and the pride you feel when someone you love wears something you have made is immeasurable. Plus, as your skills increase, you can adjust the patterns to the exact size you need - short arms, not a problem - long body, not a problem - you are in control of the size. You can also create unique garments which stand out or household items to exactly match your decor.
Why use Dianne's Knitting Yarns?
We were one of the first knitting yarn Companies to go online in February 2000, long before the big guys. For more info on how, and why, we started up then please check out the CPU Enterprises Blog. The picture below shows the Market Stall where Dianne's Knitting Yarns started in 1985.
Our website has grown from just a few yarns to many hundreds, but we still believe in the core reasons we started DKY. We pride ourselves in the fact we care; care about the quality; care about the price; and care about you, the customer.
Some websites dabble with a few popular yarns from lots of suppliers, we prefer to supply as many as we can from a few quality manufacturers. At the moment we can supply all Jenny Watson, James Brett, Wendy and Peter Pan yarns - many of which are in stock 'by the ball', with the rest available on special Pre-order - we were the first online retailer to do that, which many have now copied.
We also have a few yarns, patterns and books from Sirdar, Hayfield, Sublime, Stylecraft and others, many are discontinued ranges so buy while you can.
There is a massive number of pattern leaflets and books online, most have full details so you know exactly what you need - we were the first online retailer to do that too. If you need needles or other accessories these can also be supplied. We also have other items which make ideal gifts, these will change on a regular basis.
